Pelo definitive serious adverse event reports of distant spread of toxin effect associated with BOTOX for blepharospasm at the recommended dose (30 Units and below), severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis at the recommended dose (100 Units), strabismus, or for chronic migraine at the labeled doses have been reported.

Botox is given by a healthcare provider as a series of tiny injections into the affected muscle(s) or skin.

Botox works by interrupting the signal between nerves and muscles. Therefore, it takes some time for Botox to fully attach to the nerve endings and effectively block the release of the chemical messenger (acetylcholine) that causes muscle contractions. Responses to Botox injections are variable, but in general:

Treatment with BOTOX and other botulinum toxin products can result in swallowing or breathing difficulties. Patients with pre-existing swallowing or breathing difficulties may be more susceptible to these complications. Because Botox contains albumin, a derivative of human blood there is a theoretical risk for transmission of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) and other viral diseases, but pelo cases of transmission have ever been identified.

Tell your health care provider if you have any diseases, injuries or disabilities of the hand, if you have a history forming large, raised scars or if you have had any other skin treatments such as skin peels.
